Has anyone ever made their own background?

DD LOVES the castle background to the Gala outfit. I would love to make her one similar to play with. Have any of you attempted this...and do ya have any suggestions??? If she gets a good report card next week, I will reward her with the castle!!! TIA!!!

DH and I made two room backgrounds. We used the boards that the craft stores sell for Science Fair exhibits. It had to be shorten in the height. I used scrapbook paper with a small design for the top part of the walls, glue a thin strip of wood molding like a chair rail and then painted the bottom part.

I have thought about this often. DH and I love castles! One thing we came up with was using a large coffee table book. There are usually several available in the bargin aisles of the major book stores. You could use the book as is, or take out the pages and have them enlarged to a suitable size at a copy/office place. The pictures have to be large to begin with however, or there will not be enough resolution for an enlargement, resulting in a blocky or grainy look.

If you slightly enlarge several buildings, post them on a board, you could have a whole kingdom background!
